Commencement of work to construct 8 new grain silo cells in July (completed February 1962).
Pilot Vessel KOOMBANA built in Fremantle - for duties in the Port
First stone for Breakwater extension by Road Transport on 14th March.
Bunbury's first tug boat 'Tuart' arrives on 3rd January.
A flashing light was installed in Bunbury Lighthouse on 8th October.
Harbour Master Palfreyman broke his leg and hip after falling into hatch of Tug 'Tuart' on 19 January and was unable to work again.
No 1 Land-backed Berth opened in December 1963 and from 15th - 18th January 1964 the MV 'Trienza' was first vessel to use the berth. Discharging 4,827 tons of Phosphate Rock.
The Berth was officially opened by Minister for Works G.P. Wild MLA on 10th April.
In the year that decimal currency was introduced to Australia, the new BPA Administration Office was opened on 27th July in Henry Street, Outer Harbour, on the site of the current Offices.
Construction of No.2 Land Backed Berth, 184m in length - of steel and concrete with timber fenders, was completed and was opened on 16 December by Hon. Ross Hutchinson MLA.
Bunbury Harbour Board was changed to Bunbury Port Authority in October.
