Historical Timeline
Worsley Alumina's new berth (Berth 6) was completed and the 'PANAXIA' was the first ship to load Alumina there, shifting from Berth 4 to Berth 6 on 27th February and departing on 2nd March. The official opening by the Minister for the South-West was on 7th July.
The replaced vessel, PV LESCHENAULT, is in use with Victorian Regional Channels Authority in Geelong.
Australia Post issued a 50c stamp depicting the iconic chequerboard lighthouse.
The new $1.3m Pilot Boat - TUART arrived by road from her Brisbane builder, Norman Wright and Sons' premises on Thursday 4th May. The first Pilotage transfer was the departing 'MV IGUANA' on 5th May. She was accepted by BPA from the builders for operational duties on 8th May.
On Sunday 18th Nov. 2,500 visitors attended the 2nd Port Open Day held at Berth 5 and Sandy the Seagull was there to entertain the children.
TS Leeuwin arrived and opened for public inspection.
New security provisions were implemented under Federal Legislation from 1st January, limiting access to port areas.(see MSIC details)
A Centenary Dinner was held on 11th July to celebrate 100 years since the formation of the Bunbury Harbour Board (now Bunbury Port Authority)
Stage 1 of Port Access Road opened. Named Willinge Drive after former Chairman John Willinge.
